Lemurs for dinner ?

The article I read about was pretty crazy to be honest. It was about how in Madagascar Lemurs now represent the most endangered group of mammals on Earth with more than 90 percent of the 113 species being threatened with extinction. Right now lemurs are illegal to capture, kill, sell, or eat in Madagascar. But from the article it seems like the people in Madagascar dont care, they continue to sell Lemur meat and kill them. Also in the article people in Madagascar says  that some  restaurant are  serving Lemur meat to people. So if it was illegal, how come nobody is stepping up?

This would be under the Biodiversity category because it has to do with a standard living life of a species or animal. People are destroying our ecosystem around the world. Also it goes under biodiversity lost because if the Lemurs are disappearing its biodiversity.

We as people are the proplem because we're the ones who are killing them and making it hard for their survival. It's just common sense the more people we have the more the people are going to want to buy, sell, and eat the Lemurs. So more people will just make the situation worse.

  1. This issue is quite sad and disturbing. It's a shame that so man endangered species around the globe are being targeted, killed, sold and sometimes even eaten. As you said, the problem is a biodiversity loss issue and centers around those living in extreme poverty. In order to fix issues such as lemur endangerment, we need to first fix the problem of widespread poverty.

  3. I think it is really bad for us humans to be killing off these endangered species, without a lot of biodiversity that would really negatively affect the ecosystem. I I really agree, I think Madagascar needs to step up and countries like it.

  4. I agree that people, are destroying are economy, and that somebody should do something about eating lemurs for dinner since it's illegal. Do you think, the human population will get affected by this creature or no? Do you think there will be a change in the next few years ? I think something needs to happen over time.

  5. I agree with your article Bowie. I feel that we are the problem in this but what do you feel we should do to end this dilemma?

  6. I think that this can become a serious issue and could really diminish the population of lemurs. They are one of the most recognizable animals in the world so it would be sad to see them go away
